IKEA HACKER

IKEA HACKER is a blog where you can send in your hacks that you made on your IKEA things. I got my hack on some IKEA lamps that I changed with some ribbons and small mirrors published on IKEA HACKER. This is a cool blog where you can get tips and ideas how to change your IKEA stuff.

Button A

My sister wanted me to make a button picture on a canvas frame to her boyfriend. (Soon to be husband!) His initial is A. I’ve made one for my sister earlier and I think they will have them over their bed. I also made a button picture to my sister-in-law. The button picture is getting popular :-)

More elephants…

I’ve made three more elephants. And one has ears. Do you think the elephants should have ears or not? Don’t they look a bit “naked” without ears? Please let me know what you think!

Fabric and flowers…

No crafting in a long time. I’m so tired and have no inspiration… But this evening I will take out my sewing machine, even if I’m tired and not feel up to it!! You can’t just sit and wait for inspiration; you just have to do it! So hopefully it will end up with some more elephants with fabric from Mayas old sweaters.

Today I bought this lovely pelargonium (cultivated: geranium).

BEAUTIFUL

The text on the layout:
Maya!
You are so BEAUTIFUL!
Dad and I use to say to each other: “How is it possible that we have such a beautiful child?” You are almost 2 years old but look so much older in this photo.

Elephants in my home!

I knew I liked elephants but I didn’t think that I had so many in my home! I think if I was to go trough some closets and drawers I probably find some more elephants…

And of course the one I did to Maya…

Elephant softie

I have made this softie to Maya out of fabric from a t-shirt that I bought at H&M. Isn’t the pattern cute? I love it, and Maya loves her elephant! This was very fun and easy to make, I think I will do another one, maybe with big ears this time…

Happy Easter - Glad Påsk!

This Easter came so quickly that I didn’t understood that it was actually this week! So yesterday some of the Easter decorations was taken down from the attic. I did this card last night, not enough time and yellow buttons to send out to all my friends and family. Last year I did a bunch of cards, maybe I have time to do some cards next year…

I must show you what Maya my daughter made at day-care! Isn’t this little chicken adorable? This is her first Easter craft; she was smiling and looked so proud when she showed it to me :-)

Drawstring bag

Yesterday I finally sewed Mayas drawstring bag. I was supposed to have it done weeks ago, but you know how it is… Sometimes it is more fun to draw, scrapbook or watch TV :-) I’ve recycled Mayas old sweater with her name on it. (Blogged about here, here and here!!) Pink and blue, maybe just a little bit too much baby colors, Maya is soon to be two years old… But do you know what? She is always going to be my little baby!

Illustration Friday (I spy)

My grandparents always had a bowl of candy in their living room. I couldn’t understand why they didn’t eat all the candy at once! I remember that I used to stare at that glass bowl; you were only allowed one little candy. I tried to keep it in my mouth for as long that I could. I must confess that it happened that I used to spy if the room was empty and sneak in and took a bit of candy… Always with a guilty conscience afterwards…

Pink/Purple vs Brown/Orange

My niece’s birthday is coming up and I have made this framed picture with her name on it. She is in a pink/purple period, as she was last year when she turned 8 years old. Who knows when the pink/purple period is ending? Never I hope! I like pink/purple too!

As I wrote (in swedish) in the post about a year ago I was born in the early ‘70s and the color pink didn’t exist when I was a child ;-) It was all brown, orange, green and dark colors…

3 months

When Maya was 3 months old we heard her laughter for the first time. It was the most beautiful thing we ever heard!

2 months

Maya is eating most of the time.
Her eyes are more clear and alert.

She wants to be near…

Baby shoes

I was going trough my drawers and found my shoes that I wore when I was a baby. Aren’t they cute? No, I wasn’t born in the ‘50s! But they sure look very old and vintage. I’m getting so nostalgic when I look back at my childhood. That is one of the things that are so great to have a child. You get a second childhood!

[Picture: hummmlan]

Here is a poem that I found at Posy. I think I need to read this poem now and then to remember what is important in life…

If I had my child to raise all over again, I’d finger-paint more and point the finger less.
I’d do less correcting and more connecting.
I’d take my eyes of my watch, and watch with my eyes.
I would care to know less and know to care more.
I’d take more hikes and fly more kites.
I’d stop playing serious, and seriously play.
I’d run through more fields and gaze at more stars.
I’d do more hugging and less tugging.
I would build self-esteem first, and the house later.
I’d teach less about the love of power, and more about the power of love.
