The House Of Horror?

In the back of my trunk I had the dollhouse that I got when I was a little girl. Now I wanted to give it to my little girl. I’ve been at my parents house to get it. I was so happy when I drove home, thinking of how happy and thrilled my daughter would be when she saw what I was bringing home. When I showed it to her she wasn’t jumping up and down that I thought she would… She looked at it with scepticism. I got a bad feeling and quickly said that it needed to be cleaned and that I’ll be looking for the little dolls and furniture that should be inside. She said: ”Yes it’s so dirty and UGLY!”

I loved my dollhouse when I was a child in the ’70s, I thought the house looked stunning with wallpapers of brown and orange. Unfortunately my daughter has enter the pink period of her life…

Anyway...

I prepared a space for the dollhouse in her room and I thought that she just had to get used to it. Later that night when we put her to bed and I thought that she was sleeping, she shouted: ”Mum! I think the dollhouse is so ugly, I don’t want it. Can you please remove it from my room?!”

To be continued…

Hi hi!

Eg veit ikkje kor mitt er no, men det finst fortsatt ein plass, trur eg....

Oh, i saw your blog earlier this week; already before you've commented on mine. Amazing how similar our houses are just that yours looks better in its original state than mine. I think white with orange looks great! The staircase-room looks less nice.If your daughter loves pink, you could make it pink. I love the flowered room: great walls as also the upstairs.
I can imagine that little girls nowadays don't like brown floors so that's why i changed it in white felt and glittered floors and even have painted one floor. Pink, hearts and butterflies, that's what they want.....and it is fun to change it in a more modern version using felt, scrapbookpapers for wall and even tissues (i used it on the floor) and wrappingpaper.

It broke my heart to read your daughter's replies.

I think the dollhouse it totally cool, and I can take if you decide to get rid of it

Åå vad sorligt. Det var ju fantastiskt fint. Men hon kommer ångra sig. Hon kommer förälska sig i det tillslut.
