Crafty weekend

This weekend has been a crafty one. I have made a couple of granny squares and glued some paper on a little drawer (FIRA) from IKEA. I have it in my crafty little place, I’m not finished with the interior design yet… But soon, very soon!! :-)

My first granny squares!

Oh, I’m so proud of myself! I’ve finally learnt how to do granny squares. It is so much fun! I think I maybe got an addiction… I want to crochet all the time! This is going to be a blanket for my sister’s baby. The baby isn’t expected until early August so I have a few months to get it ready. And I can tell you that I need that time!

My first ripple!

I’ve finished my first ripple! It’s a blanket for my daughter’s doll. I want to crochet a bedspread for my bed. But I think it’s maybe too much to take on at this time…

It’s a whimsical life

A couple of weeks ago Sweet Pea had a giveaway to celebrate that it was two years since she started to blog. The winner could pick any print that they wanted from her Etsy shop. And I won!!!! Today I received my package from Canada, and I’m so happy! Look at all the goodies I got!

This is the print I picked from her Etsy shop.
"Must have shrunk in the wash"

And I got a cute little bunny! I promise to take care of here and make her feel like home!

Look at her beautiful necklace…

and the flowers!

A bunch of cute greeting cards!

More goodies!

I’m learning how to crochet!

I bought this book at the big book sale we have in Sweden in February. So far I have learnt how to crochet in ripple technique. It’s difficult to read the pattern when you never have done it before. I would never have pulled it of if it wasn’t for my mother in-law. It’s nice to have someone to ask and who can show you how it’s done!
This book is available in English too.

Enkel virkning (Simple Crochet)

Sleepy

“Maya is still sleeping after lunch. At daycare she usually sleeps for one hour but at the weekend it tends to be a bit longer. Mum and dad take the chance to get some rest too… You can’t say “now we will go to sleep”, no, we only will “rest a little” says Maya. I took these photos mostly because Maya doesn’t like me taking pictures of her, so I took the opportunity while she was sleeping…”

Matching tissue holder

I did a matching tissue holder to the diaper case shown a little bit down in the blog. Today was the first time that I sewed in my little crafty corner. The decoration of the corner isn’t finished yet so there will not be any picture at this moment! But soon I hope.

Flea market find

Saturday last week we visit a flea market. I found these beautiful old bed linens, they were a bargain! I think I will use some of the bed linens as curtains. Love the monograms!

Diaper case

Oh, this was fun sewing! And I love the fabric and the little mushroom patch from Superbuzzy! The case holds 2-3 diapers and a travel pack of wipes. I think I will do a couple more of these diaper cases, there are three babies coming in a period of six months in our family!!!

Back in business!

Yesterday I sewed; I haven’t been crafty for a very long time. It felt very good. I sat at the kitchen table dreaming about my little crafty corner in our bedroom. I found a table to have there but I need to paint it first and find some storage for all the fabric, brushes and scrap booking paper and other stuff. I really look forward to decorate my little crafty corner!

This painting is hanging on the wall at my crafty corner. I have a sewing machine just like the one in the picture, it was my grandmothers.

Merry Christmas!

Finally I’m out on the Internet again! It took a bit longer to get the Internet connection up and running than we had expected.

Here are some photos from what we call the “middle room” in our new house, simply because it’s located in the middle of the house.

I’m moving!

We bought us a cute little house! I’m so excited! And I get my own little corner to have my sewing machine and other crafty stuff! Maya gets her own room and she too is very excited! And Mr. Hummmlan gets his own garage… We are moving in this weekend, and then it’s going to take a couple of weeks to get the Internet connection installed. I promise to show you some photos from the inside. See you in the middle of December!

Work, work, work

and no play…

A couple of weeks ago I started a new job. And now I don’t have any time to craft! I’m so tired! I think most of you know what I’m talking about… Hopefully I get used to it soon and have a little bit more strength to pull my self together to craft something! So please have patience with me, I know I’m not blogging as often as some of you.

The only one in my family who is crafty at the moment is my daughter. Look what she made! Ohhh you should see how proud she is of this!! (Does anyone know what the English word for this is? In Swedish we call it a “Pärlplatta”)

I want to learn how to crochet!

When I first saw this picture I got a flashback! It reminded me about the afternoons at my grandmother. She taught me how to crochet. But now I don’t remember how to do it… It’s so sad. I made potholders and they looked something like the scarf on the pictures (I think they are called “granny squares”). I really want to learn to crochet again. I really want to do that scarf! Do you have some tips on blogs, websites or books about crocheting? Please leave a comment on this post. Thanks!

I’ve got a SHOP!!

Finally I’ve started my own shop at ETSY(hummmlan.etsy.com)! I have thought about it for a long time, I have quite a lot of things left from the Christmas market from last year.

I haven’t so many items in the shop yet. I have to take pictures of everything and hopefully I get around to do it this weekend.

You are so welcome to stop by my shop and of course buy if you want!

I will do a post on the blog every time I’m put something new in my shop.
